| OverviewMicroscopy & Cellular ImagingIslet Production FacilityMouse GeneticsGenomics & Bioinformatics | Mouse Genetics Core DescriptionThis core facility is designed to facilitate the creation of new mutant mouse strains for diabetes-related research. The main emphasis of the core is to provide diabetes investigators access to services that are not readily available from commercial entities and that would require prohibitive investment of time and effort for them to establish in their own laboratories. Thus, the core provides expertise in the areas of gene-targeting in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells and in the microinjection of mouse embryos with ES cells or DNA to make chimeric or transgenic mice. The core is focused on the importation and use of cell lines, reagents and other resources that will facilitate investigations into the mechanisms that cause diabetes. Services Provided· Microinjection of DNA into fertilized mouse oocytes to create transgenic mice o Culture and transfection of ES cells o Selection, isolation and freezing of clones of ES cells o Preparation of DNA from clones of ES cells o Expansion of targeted ES cells from 96-well plates · Microinjection of ES cells into mouse blastocysts to create chimeric mice · Rederivation of mouse strains by embryo transfer Pricing | Transgenic Mice | Gene Targeting | RederivationOther Things of InterestBAC mutagenesis by homologous recombination in E. coli. - this is a powerful approach for generating transgenes and targeting vectors. The Common Resource Development Program - Check here to find details of a UCSF DERC program that will support the development of mutant mouse strains likely to be of general interest to diabetes researchers. Placing an OrderDERC investigators should send a brief email message to Stephanie Louie requesting instructions on how to place orders for services Contact Information
