This component provides the equipment and expertise to utilize Affymetrix GeneChips for gene expression analyis, and includes two groups: GeneChip processing and bioinformatics. We have sufficient capacity to process 200 GeneChips per month plus data analysis.

1. Services provided:
   The Affymetrix component has established standard operation procedures (SOP) including total RNA isolation, cDNA/cRNA reactions, GeneChip hybridization, and GeneChip processing. We can provide these as protocols or direct services as well as bioinformatic data analysis. The core provides technical and experimental design assistance at no cost.
   
   
2. Equipment available:
   The core has a GeneChip scanner with autoloader, three fluidic stations, and a GeneChip hybridization oven and a bioanalyzer for evaluating the integrity of small RNA samples. The core also has a 2.4 GHz server with one TB capacity and computer workstations.
